When you’re reading about kratom you will quickly come across kratom extracts and ultra-enhanced kratom, and probably wonder what they are, as well as terms like super kratom and Maeng Da. But what exactly are all those? And can you learn how to make kratom extracts at home far more cheaply than you can buy them?
What I’m going to do here is quickly talk you through everything you need to know. I’ll tell you exactly what kratom extracts are, and what the differences between them and ultra-enhanced kratom is.
I’ll explain what kratom liquid extract is, what the powder version is, and tell you which is best.
On top of all that, I’ll also tell you exactly how to make kratom extract yourself, and if you don’t fancy that process, how to buy kratom extract capsules and powder at the best price.
Kratom Extracts Vs Ultra Enhanced Kratom
So the big confusion is around what the difference between kratom extracts and ultra-enhanced kratom actually is. Both are much higher in price, and I claim to be much longer than standard kratom powder, so what’s the difference, and which should you buy?
Ultra-enhanced kratom is standard kratom powder that has additional alkaloids added to it. These alkaloids come from kratom extracts, highly concentrated extracts of alkaloids from standard kratom.
So ultra-enhanced kratom is basically standard kratom powder with a bit of a stronger powder added in to make it more potent.
Kratom extracts are another level up entirely though. This is how kratom extracts are made:
Standard kratom powder is mixed with a solvent, or alcohol, and then boiled down into a muddy liquid form, which is then separated from the powder. That leaves you with a concentrated thick liquid that is very rich in alkaloids.
That liquid is then boiled down to create an incredibly concentrated resin that’s then dried out and ground into a highly concentrated powder.
So when you see a concentration of 10x extract, what’s actually happening there is 10 g of kratom powder has been boiled down and turned into 1 g of ground extract.
This means that 50x extract has 50 g of kratom powder boiled down into 1 g of extract. That’s why it’s so crazy expensive, and why the smallest dose is needed to get a significant kratom hit.
Kratom Liquid Extract Or Kratom Extract Powder?
In theory, kratom liquid extract should be as strong as kratom extract powder, but that’s not actually the case in most instances.
When the kratom is boiled down into muddy water, it’s that water which is then used to create the base for kratom liquid. But it’s usually not as potent, because that process continues after that point to create a more concentrated raising that then becomes the powder.
So kratom liquid extracts are very convenient, and because of their liquid format they hit the spot very quickly, but generally they are not as potent as kratom extract powder.
What’s The Strongest Kratom Extract?
Now you have to be careful here, because it basically works out that the higher the multiplier, the more grams of kratom that have been used to create 1 g of concentrated extract powder.
The strongest is usually 50x, although I have seen 60x kratom extracts on rare occasions.
However, that’s not the whole story. Kratom extracts can be made from leaves or powder.
Now obviously, 50 g of kratom leaves are a very different proposition to 50 g of kratom powder, where the stems and other bits are removed before being dried out and then ground into a powder.
So be careful what you buy. Kratom extracts made from red, white or green kratom powder are far more potent and worth the money than extracts made from kratom leaves.
Kratom Extract Dosage
With good quality kratom powder dosing is pretty straightforward. A couple of grams is a low dose, up to 5 g a moderate dose, at about 8 g it’s a high dose, and anything from about 7-8 g up of good quality kratom is going to be pretty damn strong.
But because you don’t really know with kratom extracts how potent it is until you try it, dosing is very tough.
There are multipliers from 5x all the way through to 60x, so dosing can be confusing.
Technically, 5x extract means that it’s using 5 g to create 1 g, so you should take 1/5 of the dose. That’s the starting point I would go for.
The problem comes with 50x extract. It’s so intense, you’re going to need a very small amount and a micro scale to dose accurately.
But as I always say with kratom, be conservative. Start with the equivalent of a couple of grams, whether it’s standard kratom, ultra-enhanced, or the strongest kratom extract you can find.
How To Make Kratom Extract At Home
Let’s get real here now by telling you how to make kratom extract at home. It’s quite easy to do, although you will obviously need a significant quantity of kratom.
The basic process for making kratom extract is pretty simple:
1. Measure out the number of grams of kratom powder you will use. If you’re going to do a gram of 10x extract then measure out 10 g.
2. Mix in several tablespoons of lime juice or lemon juice to the kratom powder. Then add the liquid you’re going to boil it down with to create a thick paste. You can use just plain water, but ethanol, or a mix of ethanol and water is better for faster evaporation.
3. You’re then going to bring this paste to the boil in a large kitchen pan with a lid. Once it’s come to the boil, turn it right down and let it simmer until it has reduced by about 50%.
4. Cool the mixture down and then strain it through a muslin cloth. Then return what’s in the cloth to the pan. Add half of the liquid you’ve strained back in, and a little more lemon juice, and boil and simmer it again until it’s reduced to a very thick paste with very little water at all.
5. You’ll then transfer what’s left, a thick paste, to a shallow oven proof dish. Spread it out thinly, and put it in the oven at around 200°F, maybe 180°F for a fan assisted oven.
6. Let it slowly bake to a hard resin-like material.
7. The last step is to grind that resin down into powder. You can do this using a household grater. Just make sure it’s a very fine powder, because you are only going to measure and use a small amount each time.
Should You Buy Kratom Extract Capsules Or Powder?
As you can see, learning how to make kratom extract actually isn’t that tough.
But it does take a lot of time. You’re going to be spending a day doing this. Although you are not going to be hanging over a saucepan all the time, the whole process will take a long time with lots of steps.
You’ll also need a lot of kratom, and it has to be good quality.
For me, I would just buy it. You’ll get the best quality, and it will probably actually work out cheaper than trying to buy good quality powder and then do it yourself.
Kratom liquid extract is one option, but as I’ve said it’s a bit variable in potency.
You can buy kratom extract capsules, which are incredibly convenient and allow you to get an exact dose. With kratom extracts being so powerful, this can be important.
The Evergreen Tree do fantastic Indo kratom extract capsules. They work out at around 15% alkaloids in a 500 mg capsule the standard type, and the even stronger type of extracts workout at 30% alkaloids in a 500 mg capsule.
It’s kind of the same story with kratom extract powder as well. It’s probably better to just by really high quality kratom extracts from a company who can sell you a wide range of low through to high multiples of extract.
I’ll mention The Evergreen Tree again. They do three sorts of powder extracts, and actually those powder extracts are also available in capsule form as well.
They up to 20% alkaloids, which is incredibly potent. I’m not actually sure what the multiples are, because they aren’t listed, but for that strength I think we’re probably talking up to 50x kratom extract strength.
So there you go, buying kratom extracts is probably better than learning how to make them. Making kratom extract is perfectly possible, lots of people do it. But unless you get it right, you could burn the kratom, or just not get a great experience unless you can get your hands on fantastic quality kratom powder. It’s probably best to just buy it from a high quality retailer.
